The Under Water Race

Maria Vaccaro

Pushing and pushing and pushing. Feeling the water rush against my face I rushed myself around the perimitor of the pool while my sister gains up her speed behind me. I could see her out of the corner of my eye as I heard her breathing deaply. So I pushed harder and went faster. Looking ahead I could see the ladder where we were going to end I knew I was going to make it until Christina my sister raced ahead of me I didn't want to loose now, not now that I was so close to beating her. So as hard as I could I pushed myself off the side of the side of the pool and went speeding under water like a torpedo. Under water, through my gogles I could see the ladder once again so I reached out in front of me. Me and my sister were neck and neck. I reached out my arm even longer so that I could touch it and then......I reached the ladder and grasped it firm. I did it! I did it! I thought to myself. I finally beat my older sister. YES. My sister was looking at me with a I can't belive it look. I climbed up the ladder and did a cannonball into the pool I felt like I could do ANYTHING now and I was ready for another race.
